Efficient Communication in Data Analytics and Reporting

Every communication channel is unique. Your metrics for success will be specific to your goals and situation. And this is where measurement will narrow your focus on your desired outcomes and resources. It’s imperative that you set clear targets, objectives, mission and vision that are also actionable to work toward improvement. Once you have these set out, you can pull data data reports and anlyse the success of these. Asking questions like, “how well is our communications strategy aligned with our culture?”, “do employees truly care about our objectives and goals?”.

Once you understand some of the questions, you need to set KPIs and goals related to your internal communications strategy. However, internal communication KPIs aren’t immediately obvious from a first glance. Here are some simple tips for measuring whether or not your internal communication is effectively meeting the needs of your employees.

  • Identify your goals, mission and vision to ensure alignment. What are your company’s objectives? If you aren’t clear, how do your employees know, and how do you knw what you are measuring?
  • Establish objectives for your communications. Start with your current communication. Which channels seem to perform the best? Which employees do you need to reach most? How will you define success?
  • Review the data frequently. Break down your campaign activities so you can plan how best to communicate and measure them. Which channels are best to use for this particular communications message? What are the metrics specific to the channel—such as clicks, views, shares, etc.? Every channel has a different metric, and so you’ll need to start to track them.
  • Determine your Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Identify KPIs to track the progress of your initiatives in relation to company-wide objectives. A KPI must be a measurable value that demonstrates whether an enterprise is achieving its goals. For example, as a communicator, your KPIs could be increasing employee engagement by 10% in a year or reducing employee attrition by 10 per cent.

If that level of trust and respect is missing, then employees will lose their enthusiasm for a company. This reduces productivity and eventually leads to employee turnover.
