How to update the progress of your personal Objective
In this lesson, we will look at how you can update the progress of your personal objective(s). Updating the progress of the objective yourself is great way for you to keep on top of your progress and communicate this to your manager (or Reviewer).
This lesson applies to both personal SMART objectives and the key results associated with a personal OKR.
Step One
Navigate to the Objectives and Reviews area using the side-bar navigation on the left-hand side of your screen. This is usually displayed as a clip board icon. Opening this page will display all your open personal objectives.
If you are using our New Menu Feature, hover over the Objectives and Reviews section of the side-bar, then navigate to:
My Performance ➡️Objectives
Select the Objectives title and proceed with step two.
Step Two
Click on the tile associated with the objective you wish to update the progress for. This will open the pull-out drawer to the right-hand side of the screen.
Personal OKRs only: Toggle through the individual key results using the arrows to find the key result you wish to update the progress for.
Step Three
Navigate to the ‘Progress’ section of the pull-out drawer and drag the slider (or enter a number in the field). This will update the progress bar at the top of the page.
If the objective is measured with a yes/no value, click the tick-box to indicate whether the objective has been completed or not.
Updating the slider/field alone will not save this progress! Continue to follow the below steps to save this progress against the objective.
Step Four
As an optional step, you can indicate whether the objective is ‘On Track’, ‘Off Track’, or ‘At Risk’ of completion. This tag will be associated with your progress update and will display on the interface of the objective tile when viewing your personal objectives.
Step Five
Write a comment in the ‘progress updates’ field and click the paper airplane icon to submit the progress update. The progress update will contain the progress change (numerical, percentage etc.), along with the on track/off track/at risk indicator (if applicable), and the associated comment.
Once the progress of the objective has been updated, the reviewer will receive the associated notifications.
Step Six
Close the pull-out drawer. The percentage circle associated with the objective’s tile will now reflect the latest progress update.
Personal OKRs only: Each key result evenly contributes to the progress of the OKR. For example, if an OKR contains 4 key results, each key result will be weighted 25%. The overall progress bar/circle associated with the OKR will automatically calculate this when progress is made to the individual key results.
