Content Types

There are eight types of content you can publish in your platform: blog, social, shareable, award, survey, task, event, and poll. These content types allow you to create diverse and exciting material for your platform. We would recommend a mixture of different content types to engage your employees and keep bringing them back to the platform.

Below are examples of different content types, how they appear on the platform, and use cases for each. But, if you’d like some tips on how to get the most out of our Comms module – speak to your Customer Success Manager.

Blog and Social

Blog and social groups look similar on the feed and are the most commonly used content types. The way that blog and social posts are created are identical in terms of the fields you need to populate, however, the difference between the two types is that a Social post will display the name of the author above the tile – whereas a Blog post does not.

An example of a blog post can be seen below:

Below is an example of a Social post, note the image, name, and role of the author above the post’s title:

Blog and social content types are great for most types of content including newsletters, general announcements, reminders, business updates (including new starters). Social posts in particular are great for CEO messages (ie. above), social committee activities etc.

If you’re new to publishing content to your business, we would recommend starting with these types of posts.

Shareable

Shareable content is very similar to blog and social posts. For shareable content, a blue icon displays in the left-hand corner of the tile so that the reader to easily share the post to LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and via direct link. This is ideal for posts you really want to shout about, or share outside of the business.

Great examples of shareable content include employee referral schemes (such as the above), and charitable/fundraising activities.

Surveys

You can create Engagement, eNPS, and Sentiment surveys in your platform. We have dedicated guidance on creating surveys as there are additional steps which need to be taken prior to creating survey content.

For information on how all three surveys appear in the feed, and how employees can respond to the survey questions can be found in this guide here.

Task

This content type is ideal if you are using our Tasks and Worksheets feature, it allows you to assign a task to multiple individuals at once and create surrounding content which appears on the feed of the employees you are assigning the task to. This is a great way to assign tasks at a Department or Site level.

When creating task content, you can select the individual who will be notified when the employee completes their assigned task. Your worksheet must be ready to use before you use it to publish task content.

In the image above, you will note the yellow icon in the bottom left-hand corner of the tile – this will take the employee straight through to the assigned task, but they will receive a separate notification containing a link to this in addition to the one received for the post.

Task content is ideal for acknowledgement forms for SOPs, policy changes, and employee handbooks.

Award

If you are utilising an award programme, you can assign an award to an employee to your activity feed (main feed). This is a great way to publically recognise employees for their achievements.

Assigning an award as content rather than assigning an award via the Directory means that you can notify the wider business as opposed to just the employee and their manager. You can assign your non peer-to-peer award this way.

Event

Event posts are ideal for both in-person and virtual events. Employees can view the details of the event on the tile interface, and clicking the attendance button will download an .ics calendar invite to the employee’s device.

It is possible to export a list of employees who confirm their attendance for an event which makes it an ideal solution for planning events in the business.

Poll

Polls are similar to surveys, however they are ideally used for social purposes such as asking employees what they would like to do for Christmas, selecting employee incentives etc. Unlike surveys, Polls are not anonymous and the reports as displayed in real time. You will not be able to see exactly who has participated in the poll, but you will be able to export the results of the poll. Depending on your use case, you may want to consider a survey instead.

When creating a poll you can define your own options, you can also select individuals in your business – allowing employees to vote for a particular employee in response to a poll. An employee can only select one option for a poll, and can only participate in a poll once.
