Assign an Award to a Colleague

In this lesson, we will look at how you can assign an award to a colleague.

Peer to peer awards are a great way of showing another colleague that you acknowledge and appreciate them at work.

There are two different ways that you can assign an award to a colleague:

  1. via the People area
  2. via a custom channel in your platform (if your platform has been configured for this)

Assigning an Award via the People area

Step One

Navigate to the People section of the platform using the left-hand sidebar. This will display a directory of all employees within your organisation.

If you are using our New Menu Feature, hover over the People section of the side-bar, then navigate to:

People ➡️Directory

Select the Directory title and proceed with step two.

Step Two

Click on the name of the employee you wish you assign the award to. This will open up an overview of their profile to the right-hand side of the screen.

Step Three

Click on the plus button under the ‘AWARDS’ section of the panel. This will open up the ‘Assign Award’ box containing a drop-down of possible awards to assign to the employee.

Step Four

Select the award from the list, and under ‘Your note‘ write the reason for assigning the award. Then click the ‘Save’ button to assign the award to the employee.

Step Five

The award will now display under the ‘AWARDS’ section of the employees profile.

The employee will receive a notification to say that they have been assigned an award including the name of the award and the reason you provided for assigning the award. The employee’s manager will also receive a notification.
The employee’s manager will also be able to view the award when they are completing the employees next review in StaffCircle.


Assigning an Award via a Custom Channel

Your StaffCircle platform may contain a channel which will allow you to assign an award to an employee. Assigning an award via a custom channel is a great to recognise this employee’s achievements and post it in a place where it can be viewed by all employees within the organisation.

Step One

Navigate to the Custom feed.

If you are not sure where to find this custom feed, please contact your system administrator as this can vary from platform to platform.

Step Two

Select the name of the channel in the Channels area (please refer to the image below). Then click on the star icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen to open up the ‘Assign an Award’ panel to the right-hand side of the screen.

Step Three

Select the award from the drop-down menu and the name of the employee under ‘Person Awarded’.

Under the ‘Notes about the award‘ section write the reason for assigning the award.

Click the ‘Save’ button in the bottom right-hand corner to assign the award to the employee.

Step Four

The award will now display in the custom feed/channel, and under the ‘AWARDS’ section of the employees profile.

The employee will receive a notification to say that they have been assigned an award including the name of the award and the reason you provided for assigning the award. The employee’s manager will also receive a notification.
The employee’s manager will also be able to view the award information when they are completing the employees next review in StaffCircle.
